Argentotennantite-(Zn) is a very rare mineral. Common associates include
ankerite,
freibergite, galena,
gold, pyrite,
quartz, siderite,
stibnite, tennantite and
tetrahedrite
(Mindat).
Localities
At the Mogul Mine, Silvermines District, County Tipperary, Munster, Ireland, argentotennantite occurs in a stratiform
lead-zinc orebody associated with
geocronite,
proustite – pyrargyrite and
galena
(HOM).
At the type locality, the Kvartsitovje Gorki gold deposit, Aksu, Stepnogorsk, Akmola Region, Kazakhstan, argentotennantite occurs in
a polymetallic deposit associated with tennantite,
tetrahedrite, siderite,
stibnite, pyrite,
quartz, mercurian gold,
galena, ankerite and
freibergite (Mindat, HOM). It is often in zoned grains, occurring between
tennantite cores and
argentotetrahedrite-(Fe)
rims
(AM 73.439 ).
