At the Marmara bauxite deposit, Megara, West Attica, Attica, Greece, bastnäsite-(La) was discovered together with bastnäsite-(Ce) (JWW p268)

At Odegi, Nasarawa, Nigeria, is associated with fluocerite and cerianite-(Ce) (HOM).

At the type locality, the Belaya Zima REE-Nb deposit, Tuva, Russia, bastnäsite-(La) occurs in late ankerite carbonatite (HOM).
