Hydrothermal environments

Cobaltlotharmeyerite is a secondary phosphate mineral found in cobalt and nickel bearing ore dumps and in the oxidation zone of polymetallic ore deposits (Webmin, HOM).

Localities

In the Bou Azzer mining district, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco, cobaltlotharmeyerite is associated with roselite, anorthoroselite, dolomite and quartz (HOM).

At the at the Tazalaght Cu-As deposit, near Tazalaght, Bou Azzer mining district, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco, cobaltlotharmeyerite is associated with erythrite and heterogenite (HOM).

At the Rappold and Pucher mines, Schneeberg, Erzgebirgskreis, Saxony, Germany, cobaltlotharmeyerite is associated with pharmacoalumite, bariopharmacosiderite, arseniosiderite, zeunerite, olivenite and rooseveltite (HOM).

At the type locality, the Roter Berg mining district, Zschorlau, Erzgebirgskreis, Saxony, Germany, cobaltlotharmeyerite occurs as thin-tabular, bladed crystals to 0.1 mm, associated with cobalt and nickel bearing mawbyite, zeunerite, waylandite, tsumcorite, cobalttsumcorite, rooseveltite, pharmacoalumite, olivenite, bariopharmacosiderite, galena, arseniosiderite and plumbogummite (HOM, Mindat).
