Meteorites

Keilite is an an accessory mineral in enstatite chondrite meteorites, associated with niningerite, enstatite, iron variety kamacite and troilite (HOM).

Localities

At the type locality, the Abee meteorite, Abee, Alberta, Canada, keilite was found as grains up to several hundred micrometers across in the enstatite chondrite meteorite, associated with troilite, iron variety kamacite and enstatite (Mindat).

At the Zaklodzie meteorite, Zamość county, Lublin Voivodeship, Poland, Keilite, occurs as xenomorphic grains up to 0.5 mm in diameter, associated with troilite (or pyrrhotite), Fe-Ni metal, an (Fe,Zn,Mn)S phase, enstatite with relict forsterite in cores, plagioclase and accessory schreibersite, oldhamite, graphite, sinoite and an SiO2 paramorph (AM 92.204-209).
