Localities

There are two co-type localities, the Stillwater mine, Stillwater county, Montana, USA, and the Stillwater Complex, Montana, USA.

Four grains of keithconnite have been found at the type localities, associated with kotulskite, telluropalladinite and magnetite, but is also found as a free grain in heavy-mineral concentrates (CM 17.589-594).
Keithconnite is a rare mineral found with other platinum-group minerals in layered ultrabasic complexes and their placers. Associated minerals include merenskyite (HOM).
