Localities

At the type locality, Bergweg, Gadernheim, Lautertal, Bergstraße, Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany, petitjeanite occurs as a secondary mineral in spherical aggregates or crusts of intergrown crystals to 0.2 m in silicified baryte veins. Associated minerals include bismutite, mixite, reichenbachite, pyromorphite and malachite (AM 79.764-765).
