Metamorphic environments

Tululite is a relatively new mineral, approved in 2014 and to date (June 2023) reported only from Siwaga.

Localities

At the type locality, Tulul al Hammam, Siwaga, Lisdan-Siwaga Fault, Hashem region, Daba-Siwaqa complex, Transjordan Plateau, Amman Governorate, Jordan, tululite is an abundant accessory mineral in combustion metamorphic (800 to 850oC) spurrite fluorellestadite marbles derived from bitumen-rich chalky marine sediments. Associated minerals include calcite, spurrite, fluorellestadite, zinc-rich periclase, lime-monteponite solid solution and zincite (HOM).
The tululite occurs in thin clusters as irregular grains with indented outlines (20 to 100 μm in size), having typical open-work textures (Mindat).
