Uroxite is a new mineral, approved in 2018 and to date (November 2022) reported only from the type localities.

Localities

There are two co-type Localities, the Burro Mine, Slick Rock Mining District, San Miguel county, Colorado, USA, and the Markey Mine, Red Canyon Mining District, San Juan County, Utah, USA. Uroxite and metauroxite are the first two uranyl oxalate minerals found. Uroxite is a post-mining secondary phase found in efflorescent crusts on mine walls as light yellow striated blades or prisms (MM 84.1.131-141). The crystals are up to about 1 mm long, with square to rectangular cross-sections and steeply sloping terminations, typically in radiating sprays. Associated minerals include quartz, gypsum, feynmanite, bitumen and abernathyite (Mindat).
