At the type locality, the Långban mine, Långban Ore District, Filipstad, Värmland county, Sweden, wermlandite occurs as a low temperature vein filling as plates up to 1 cm in diameter, with breadth to thickness 20:1, implanted along large calcite crystals and associated with magnetite . (AM 57.327, Mindat).
