Hydrothermal environments

Cuprotungstite is a rare secondary mineral typically replacing scheelite in a copper-rich environment. Associated minerals include scheelite, stolzite and raspite (HOM, Mindat).

Localities

The type locality is La Paz, La Paz Municipality, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

At the Gold Hill Mining District, Tooele County, Utah, cuprotungstite is found as pseudomorphs after scheelite (KL 218).
