Hydrothermal environments

Cylindrite occurs in tin-bearing hydrothermal veins (Webmin, HOM), associated with franckeite, stannite, teallite, jamesonite, boulangerite, cassiterite, galena, pyrite and sphalerite (HOM, Mindat).

The type locality is the Santa Cruz Mine, Poopó town, Poopó Province, Oruro, Bolivia.

At Llallagua, Bolivia, cylindrite has been found on stannite accompanied by franckeite (MinRec 37.2.133).
