Pegmatites

Sluzhenikinite is a new mineral, approved in 2021 and to date (March 2023) reported only from the type locality.

Localities

At the type locality, the Oktyabrsky mine, Talnakh Cu-Ni Deposit, Noril'sk, Putoran Plateau, Taimyr Peninsula, Taymyrskiy Autonomous Okrug, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, sluzhenikinite was discovered in the pegmatoidal galenachalcopyrite massive ore. It forms euhedral elongate lamellar crystals (100–150 μm long and 10–50 μm wide) associated with a gold-silver alloy, insizwaite and myrmekitic intergrowths of platinum-palladium minerals such as stibiopalladinite, maslovite and sobolevskite, in close association with sperrylite and base-metal sulphides such as galena, chalcopyrite, cubanite and pentlandite (MM 86.4.577-585).
